Course DescriptionSixth grade River to River Pathway is an investigative class where we will study the idea of community. In River to River, we will explore the effect of the human race on the natural environment of the river. From the history of the discovery of the Mississippi to the modern importance of this amazing waterway, we will use cross curricular strategies throughout the semester to get to know our connection to this dynamic river. We will use our creativity and language skills when we write and present on all the forms of life along the river and our deep connection to it. We will also make historical connections as we explore the importance of the Mississippi River to the native tribes who are the foundation of what we know as Minnesota. Finally, we will have a chance to visit important historical, economic, and environmental sites along the upper Mississippi River--our home! Learning Objectives
